Welcome to Metropolitan Muse, a personal atlas by Michelle Kearney, an Australian publisher and travel aficionado with a relentless passion for exploring the world, currently studying for her Masters in Ancient History.

The more you travel, the more your way of seeing begins to change. You start to notice the rhythm of a city at different times of day, the small rituals that matter to locals. Some places become chapters, others footnotes, but all of them leave an imprint.

This site is an invitation to see the world through a new lens. You’ll find ancient monuments that continue to inspire and shape the present, modern cities captured in their noisy, extraordinarily-ordinary daily routines, and food and drink that tell stories far richer than any trend list ever could.

Some pieces are practical. Others are reflective. Many sit somewhere in between, because travel isn’t only about where you go, but how a place stays with you long after you’ve left.
